TOEICパート3&パート4先読みのコツ

今回は、Part3&Part4の先読みについてやっていきたいと思います。この先読みはネイティブではない人が高得点を取る上で必須のスキルですので、今回お伝えする内容を参考にしてみてください。

先読みとは

まず、「先読みとは」ということで一体先読みはどんな作業なのかと軽く確認してみましょう。先読みは、主にパート3とパート4のDirection中・設問の音声中に次の問題の設問・選択肢を読む作業になります。この作業をすることによって、どこに集中して聞けばいいのかわかるというメリットがあります。

例えば、「What does he suggest?」という設問があったとします。この設問を先読みすることによって、主語が「he」なので、男性の発言に集中すれば問題を解くことができます。さらに、「suggest」という単語によって「提案」を示す男性の発言の箇所を聞けば良いというのがわかるのです。

また、設問は会話の流れになっていることが多いことから会話の流れがある程度わかったり、先読みをしておくことでナレーションの後に設問を読む必要がなくなりますので、解答を素早く終えることができるといったメリットも存在します。以上のように先読みにはメリットがあるのです。

Par3の先読み対策

これから、実際に先読みの方法をお伝えしていきます。どんなペースで先読みをしていくのか、また、先読みの段階でどんな情報を抜き取っておけばいいのかということを参考にしてみてください。

Directions : You will hear some conversations between two or more people. You will be asked to answer three questions about what the speakers say in each conversation. Select the best response to each question and mark the letter (A), (B), (C), or (D) on your answer sheet. The conversations will not be printed in your test book and will be spoken only one time.

まず、Part2の問題が解き終わったら、すぐPart3の先読みに移ります。（問題番号の32~34）Part3の問題の音声が流れ始まる前にはディレクションがありますが、32~34番は「You will hear some conversations between two or more people. You will be asked to answer three questions about what the speakers say in each conversation. 」までに先読みを終わらせ、次の問題の先読みに移ります。

※先読みで抜き出す単語は、太字で書いてあります。

35 What is the problem with him?
（A）He don’t receive a ticket he ordered.
（B）He mistakenly made a reservation.
（C）He can’t use Internet.
（D）He found the T-shirt he ordered too small.

ディレクションの後半「Select the best response to each question and mark the letter (A), (B), (C), or (D) on your answer sheet. The conversations will not be printed in your test book and will be spoken only one time.」は、35~37番の設問だけを先読みしていきます。そして、ここまで先読みが終わりましたら、また32~34に戻って問題の確認とナレーションの準備を軽く行います。

32~34のナレーションが流れ終わりましたら、マークシートに解答をしていきますが、32番の設問が流れ始まるまでに解答を済ませておきましょう。それが終わりましたら、35~37の問題の先読みを行います。この問題は、ディレクション中で設問の先読みをしているので、設問は軽く確認して、選択肢をメインで先読みしていきます。

この段階ではそれほど時間がありませんので、次の問題の先読みはせずに、すぐナレーションの準備に入ります。でも、先読み作業に慣れてきて、時間が余っている場合は次の問題の設問を確認しておくとその後が楽になります。

38~40からは、先読みが忙しくなるかと思います。35~37の問題の解答が終わったら、すぐ38~40の先読みを行います。ここでも、時間が余るようでしたら、41~43の問題の設問を確認していきましょう。

新形式になってから図表問題が出題されていますので、普通の問題以上に先読みに時間がかかります。普通の設問に関しては、通常通り先読みをしていきますが、図表と連携させる問題は必ずセットで先読みをして情報を整理しておきます。今回の場合は、設問にある「Adelaide」の場所を図表で確認し、その他の位置関係も一緒に確認しておきましょう。

※図表問題は最後の方にありますが、今回は途中を省略して41~43としています。

Part4の先読み方法

Part4のディレクションはPart3と異なりますので、先読みの入りと、ペースを確認していきましょう。

Directions : You will hear some talks given by a single speaker. You will be asked to answer three questions about what the speaker says in each talk. Select the best response to each question and mark the letter (A), (B), (C), or (D) on your answer sheet. The talks will not be printed in your test book and will be spoken only one time.

まずは71~73番ですが、Part3の解答が終わったらすぐにこれらの先読みを始めていきます。ディレクションの「You will hear some talks given by a single speaker. You will be asked to answer three questions about what the speaker says in each talk.」という文章まで71~73の先読みに充て、それ以降は74~76の設問を確認していきます。そして、74~76の設問の先読みが終わったら、71~73に戻って、ナレーションの準備をするという流れですね。

74~76は、71~73の解答が終わったら先読みを始めます。選択肢はディレクション中で終わっているので軽く確認すればOKなので、選択肢を重点的に先読みしていきます。

最後は、図表問題の確認をしていきます。74~76が終わり次第、77~79を確認していきます。今回の図は表になっていますので、先読みの段階でどの情報とどの情報が対応しているのかをしっかり確認していきます。今回は、A,B,C,Dの順番ですが、固有名詞が来ることもありますので、そういった場合は特に対応関係を抑える必要があります。
